In 2022, the new EPR regulations of the European Union caused a great storm in the cross-border foreign trade circle. Cross-border platforms such as Amazon, AliExpress, wish, and Dunhuang made announcements one after another, which stated that the failure of EPR registration numbers in Germany and France would be considered illegal. All of a sudden, cross-border sellers paid great attention to EPR.
So, after you sign up for the EPR, how should the packaging label be printed to meet the EU standard?
Vol.01 Battery Method
First of all, let's look at how to print the recycling label of the battery law in Germany.
Products requiring registration under the Battery Act:
1. Battery and battery category (example: No.5 battery)
2. Products with built-in batteries (example: mobile phone, electronic watch)
If the size of the battery is less than 0.5×0.5cm, there is no need to print on the battery. The recycling label of 1×1cm should be printed on the package and instruction manual. Note: it is not labeled, but printed directly.
Vol.02 WEEE
The WEEE recycling label is similar to the battery recycling label. The WEEE recycling label has black lines under the trash can, while the battery recycling label has no black lines under the trash can.
After registering WEEE, the seller is advised to print the following labels on the product packaging, product instructions and product labels (with crosses and a dustbin with black stripes at the bottom) :
The specifications are as follows:
a. The black line in the drawing must be used with the trash can mark with a diagonal line
b. The height of the black line at the bottom shall not be less than 0.3a or 1mm;
c. The height of the whole sign shall not be less than 7mm. The proportion is as follows:
d. If it cannot be marked on the product due to special reasons, the mark must be reflected on the product package and instruction;
e. The mark must be clear, distinct and resistant to wear.
Vol.03 Packing method
German packaging law does not make it mandatory to print recycling labels
But most sellers will automatically choose to print on the packaging, after all, European countries are more environmentally friendly.
Compared with the recycling mark of the French packaging method, the recycling mark of the German packaging method is much simpler (three-arrow circular mark, green and black can be used) :
The above printing instructions need to be registered before they can be used in compliance.
For EU EPR, it is charged in accordance with the natural annual fee, and the expiration time of each year is December 31. Therefore, no matter you register in January or December, the fee will be charged for one year. It is recommended that sellers in need arrange registration as soon as possible.
